Recycling pick-up is every other Thursday. See the community calendar for specific dates. You may place all your clean and dry plastics, glass and metals loose into the same recycling container.
Plastic
- Any plastic bottle or food container marked with this symbol and the number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 7
- Remove caps, covers and o-rings and discard in regular garbage
- Wash thoroughly
- Flatten milk jugs and other large plastic containers (step on)
- Labels do not have to be removed
- Acceptable Plastic: Examples - milk, laundry and dish detergent, soft drinks, peanut butter, ketchup, shampoo, cooking oil and other containers with recyclable symbol
- Antifreeze Containers must be rinsed clean and CAPS REMOVED
- Motor Oil Containers Only. (Replace cap tightly)
- Non-Acceptable Plastic: Examples - Styrofoam cups, dishes, meat trays
- NO PLASTIC BAGS
- Overflow hint: Thread string through all handles then tie
Glass
- Clear, Green, Brown or Blue glass that has contained food or beverage items is acceptable
- Remove caps, cover and o-rings and discard in regular garbage. Wash thoroughly. DO NOT BREAK
- Labels do not have to be removed
- Non-Acceptable Glass: Examples - dishes and drinking glasses, light bulbs, window glass, flower vases, casserole dishes
Metal
- Aluminum: Pop cans, pie tins, aluminum trays and foil. Wash and rinse
- Tin Cans: Must be crimped or flattened. Rinse clean. Remove labels
- Copper: Pipes and brass fittings
- Metal pots and metal pans
- Non-Acceptable Metals: Aerosol cans, paint thinner cans, charcoal lighter cans and paint cans
Magazines & Catalogs
- Must be bundled securely with heavy string
- Set on top of or next to container
- No phone books
- No comic books
- If weather is unfavorable, please save until your next scheduled pick-up.
Newsprint
- Inserts may be left with newsprint
- Stack neatly, flatten and tie securely with string
- Set on top of or next to container
- DO NOT DOUBLE FOLD PAPERS
- DO NOT put in paper or plastic bags
- No phone books
- No catalogs
- If weather is unfavorable, please save until your next scheduled pick-up.
Corrugated Cardboard
- Must be clean and flattened
- Maximum acceptable size: 30" x 60" x 6" high
- Tape or tie securely
- No pizza boxes
- No cereal boxes
- No pop cartons
