Lake Park is first community in Dickinson Co. with pickle ball courts
The city of Lake Park is the first in Dickinson county with pickle ball courts. City Administrator Marie Mathiesen tells KUOO news it's thanks to several grants. "We applied for a grant from the Dickinson County Endowment which they gave us $10,000 to kick it off. So we kind of went from there. We did some small fundraisers and then the city decided that they would just pay the rest, and so we got the bids and got the ball rolling as to what all we were going to do.
Fall cleanup reminders
As fall approaches, we often turn to yard clean up before the snow flies. Just a few reminders:
- Landscape waste/Grass/Leaves: Do Not put this waste in the garbage bins or dumpsters. There is a drop-off spot for waste located at the city shed. The disposal of waste, originating on the premises, by open burning is allowed.
- Burning: Burning shall only be allowed North of Railroad St. on even numbered days and South of Railroad St. on odd numbered days. Recreational fires are allowed at any time.
Library requesting residents complete survery
In order to meet our Accreditation and Direct State Aid Tier Level 3 status, (which is the highest level) the Lake Park Public Library is asking residents to take a short 2 question survey. The survey can be completed online at https://forms.gle/EqLsNbYtXrkpCBs9A, or if you prefer, you may print it out and drop it off at the library or city hall. Please complete the survey by October 15. Thank you!
3rd annual "Light Up The Night" contest
Lake Park Friends of the Library would like to invite your household to participate in the 3rd annual "Light Up The Night" Halloween decorating and lighting contest. Contest entrants must be residences that intend on being home to hand out treats Halloween night. Sign up at the utility office to enter. Judges will drive around October 30th after dark. This is purposely the night BEFORE Halloween so we do not have to worry about driving among the trick-or-treaters.
Prizes are $75.00 for first, $50.00 for second and $25 for third.
