Following last night’s storm, the City of Lake Park is launching a coordinated effort to assist residents with property cleanup and debris removal.

To ensure a swift and safe recovery, the City has issued the following guidelines:

Curbside Brush & Branch Collection

• Residents are asked to move fallen branches and tree debris to the curb.
• City crews will be circulating throughout the community to pick up curbside debris over the next week.

CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: Check for Power Lines

• Look Before You Move: Please carefully inspect all branches and limbs before moving them. Ensure there are no downed power lines or wires tangled in the debris.
• What to Do: If you spot any wires in or near your branches, stay far away and immediately call Lake Park Utilities to inspect the area. Do not attempt to move the debris yourself.

Community Assistance & Volunteer Opportunities

The City is actively coordinating help for neighbors who cannot physically clear their yards.

• Need Help? If you are physically unable to clean up your yard, please call City Hall at 712-832-3527. The City will work to connect you with available volunteers.
• Want to Help? If you are able-bodied and willing to assist your neighbors with cleanup, please call City Hall to be added to the volunteer list or directed to a resident in need.

LAKE PARK PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE ON THE REZONING OF LOT TEN (10), PLAT OF FRERICHS SUBDIVISION FROM SINGLE RESIDENTIAL (R-2) TO COMMERCIAL HIGHWAY (C-2).

Pursuant to the requirements of Section 23.1 of the Lake Park Zoning Ordinance, the Lake Park Planning and Zoning Commission will be meeting and holding a public hearing at the Lake Park City Hall, 217 Market Street on Wednesday December 17, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss and make a recommendation on a proposed rezoning of a property from Single Family Residential District (R-2) to Commercial Highway District (C-2). The legal description for the property is Lot Ten (10), Plat of Frerichs Subdivision The applicant is requesting the lot be rezoned to Highway Commercial District (C-2)

Lake Park Municipal Utilities (pop. 1167) has an opening for a utility clerk. Duties include various office tasks relating to customer billing, and related records, customer communications, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end reports, utility board secretary, backup support for city clerk/administrator as needed.  Experience in accounting is required.  A degree is preferred but not required. You may have heard that Heritage Square Museum is planning a very extensive expansion project! We are a non-profit organization hoping to expand to enable us to display the many artifacts that have been collected. At this time there just isn't space to display items the way they deserve to be shown. One of the main objectives is to be able to honor our veterans. We have had many uniforms donated from the Civil War era through the Korean Conflict. Right now they are stuffed in a closet.  

We are launching an exciting competition among the past 75 years of high school graduating classes to raise money to expand the current Heritage Square Museum and renovate the site, which was formerly the Jaycox Implement dealership before it burned down.
