IGL TeleConnect proudly announces plans to install fiber technology in Lake Park, Iowa. The installation of fiber within the city limits of Lake Park will offer residents a faster and more reliable internet and further IGL’s mission of providing rural Iowans with high quality internet services.
Fiber-optic internet, commonly referred to as fiber, is a broadband connection that can send data at almost 70% the speed of light and will allow IGL TeleConnect to offer up to 250Mbps download and 125Mbps upload internet speeds. IGL TeleConnect fiber packages will range in cost from $50/mo - $110/mo for Lake Park citizens.
IGL TeleConnect will complete the project in two phases. Phase one will include construction beginning in the coming weeks and will be completed in approximately six months. IGL TeleConnect will use the least invasive construction methods when laying the underground fiber, but lanes of streets may close for days at a time during the construction phase. Phase two will begin after the completion of phase one and will allow for the installation of service to homes and businesses. Current Lake Park customer’s internet will not be affected during construction, but when construction is complete, customers will be required to choose a new fiber package as IGL’s current fixed wireless service will no longer be offered within the city of Lake Park.
“Providing affordable internet to rural communities has always been the heart of our mission. Lake Park is really where we got our start, so we are very proud and find it fitting to be able to offer even faster, more reliable internet to the community of Lake Park.” said Josh Nelson, CEO.
The family-owned, Spencer-based company established in 2012 provides internet services to the Iowa Great Lakes and surrounding communities. IGL TeleConnect also provides telephone service to Milford, Lake Park and Spencer.
