The Lake Park Police Department is investigating a series of swatting incidents that have occurred in Lake Park in the past several weeks. The most recent event occurred this morning with a report of a bomb threat to the Harris-Lake Park Community School District. After further investigation, law enforcement concluded that there was no immediate threat to the school, its students, or the staff.

The Lake Park Police Department is working with local and federal agencies to determine the source of these calls and to find those responsible. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Lake Park Police Department at 712-832-3527.

Swatting is defined as a criminal harassment tactic of deceiving an emergency service (via such means as hoaxing an emergency services dispatcher) into sending a police or emergency service response team to another person's address.
